Not a comics fan...

I don't avoid them but I don't go out of my way to read them either (other than the Doonesbury and Boondocks syndication feeds), but thanks to hal_obrien I just read The Spiders.

Oh. My. God. indeed.
The comic is done with traditional drawing mostly. It's an alternate history about how the assault on Afghanistan could have gone. But it's got tremendous depth in the background and setting of the story, and the characters themselves are fascinating. Stolen from hal_obrien

Go there. Now. Don't tell yourself you'll finish reading your other friends page entries, and then go check it out. Read it. Now.

One of the things I enjoy about LJ is reading other peoples' recommendations about books, movies, and food, and also links to interesting sites. Much of the time the links are funny, cutesy things, clever polls at Quizilla, etc. But being pointed at this site is pretty much worth the year's membership right there.

I'll post tomorrow about Christmas, mainly I haven't said anything about the family festivities because they weren't remarkable in any way. They were nice, but not perfect, and there was a little friction but no dramatic blowouts. More later. Go read The Spiders, dammit, what are you still doing here?
