Since Wizard World or Comicon has such fabulous guests this year I'm thinking of going. What doesn't seem to be on their site is any kind of programming details at all. Are Joss and Kevin and Jason and Amber going give talks or are they just going to be signing stuff? When will the talks be if they're going to give them? This kind of stuff is important to know before shelling out the $50, plus parking  and other incidentals.  If it's just going to be a big comics mall with the opportunity to buy autographed pictures from the guests then I'll pass. It's very strange that they don't have any programming at all listed, there's lots of stuff to click on on their site but mostly it just goes in circles.

Pretty good weekend, I went to see Anchorman Friday night, with a friend I used to work with. She's much smarter than me so she understood right away that it was lots of mini-parodies of 70's genre movies all in one. I didn't get that until the last scene. I'd like to see it again, just to see what I missed.  It wasn't that great but I would certainly enjoy it more knowing that it was more a collection of parodies than a coherent story.

Saturday I went to work, and then skipped the MaW Slayathon as I only found out about it accidentally on Thursday, so I had no time to collect donations, etc. That night we went to  Mean Girls which I was only willing to see because it was two bucks and we were stopping at Cold Stone Creamery beforehand.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with "Mean Girls", the first word that comes to mind when I try to describe it  is "responsible." Tina Fey, who wrote the script, didn't take the "movie" way out on anything important. I think the movie had a lot to say about friendship, appearances, and what exactly a 'mean girl' is.

Sunday I went to a butterfly house and I got some pretty good photos.

Huge Butterfly

Not as big but prettier

Then we went to the Kane County fair and looked at all the farm animals and homegrown veggies.  It was a little weird to be keeping an eye on my mother, she kept trying to pat the noses of horses whose stalls had been labelled "I'm crabby, I bite!! Don't try to pet me!"  I don't have any megafauna pictures but I did get a nice shot of a bantam cock crowing his little heart out. Most of the chickens seemed a little confused about the time of day, there was lots of crowing.

Plus I got a shot of one of the <a href="http://www.photodump.com/viewer/moodygrrl/funkychicken.html">funky chickens</a> on display and a couple of <a href="http://www.photodump.com/viewer/moodygrrl/gamecocks.html">gamecocks</a>.

Here's a <a href="http://www.photodump.com/viewer/moodygrrl/peckpan2.html">panorama</a> of the lake behind the butterfly house....
