Morning street

(no subject)

I was listening to a news program from the BBC on my new Grundig yacht boy, and they were discussing new varieties of car. There was a spokesman on from GM and he was telling people that the new fuel cell cars use more fossil fuel to make the hydrogen cells than a normal car would burn going the same distance as a new car on a hydrogen cell.

Listening to this I was reminded of the passage in Bill Bryson's new book about the car and gas companies lying, and lying knowingly, about the deadliness of lead in gasoline. According to Bryson we owe our current atmospheric health and the drop in atmospheric lead to one man who made it his life's mission to get lead out of gasoline.

It's a little frightening to think about similar battles being lost without most people even knowing they're being fought.

Just my depressing little thought.
