Book Meme

Apparently pyropyga hates me, since he tagged me for this meme.

Total number of books owned: 848 (not counting the 18 books in the "To be Read" stack) (also not counting the audiobooks or counted cross-stitch pattern books)
The vast majority of those were purchased but some were free either at ABA or as ARC's while at Borders.
We won't talk about the cds.

The last book you bought: The Family Trade, by Charles Stross

The last book you read: Dead Beat (Dresden Files #7), by Jim Butcher
Very cool. Harry Dresden's the shit.
I haven't tried out his new fantasy series yet.

Five books that mean a lot to you:

I think rather than picking five books I may break the meme and talk about a few series or authors that have meant and mean a lot to me.

Tim Cahill's oeuvre
Jaguars Ripped My Flesh
A Wolverine is Eating My Leg
Road Fever
Pecked to Death by Ducks
Hold the Enlightenment
Lost in My Own Backyard
Oustanding adventure writing with insight and humor.

Steven Brust's 'Vladiad'
Assassin for the Faeryland mob and his high-powered friends. Also, he's a witch. With a minidragon familiar.

Terry Pratchett, Discworld
These can be uneven and I like some much more than others but the characters are so wonderful (Vimes and Vetinari) that I can't resist anything set on the Discworld.
Current favorite-The Truth

Join Me!, by Danny Wallace.
I have no explanation for this. All I can tell you is I love his voice.
Oddly, I still haven't joined. I'll be doing that any day now.

And lastly, the books I've re-read more times than any others,
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
Life the Universe and Everything
So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
The Long, Dark, Teatime of the Soul

Also, lost at Trivia, again. AND forgot to tape "House."
But there was cake. And Guinness.

More later.
