Saturday afternoon, before going to help setup for the party I attempted to buy cowboy boots (it was a western themed party). Couldn't find any decent inexpensive ones, so I (finally) bought bowling shoes and a bowling ball instead. They were supposed to be done drilling the ball today but didn't call. It better be done by Thursday.

The party was very nice, about 20 people came and a good time was had by all. The weather was perfect for a party on the deck and the guest of honor seemed to be genuinely surprised. Everyone liked the chili (and all the other food as well) but the big hit was the s'mores cake. Yummy! Gifts were evenly split between actual presents and (as requested by the Birthday Boy) donations to Katrina victims. I passed off my camera to the lone teenager in attendance and he did a good job taking pictures, but I haven't had much of a chance to mess with them yet.

Today I slept in, finished reading Superfolks, went to see "Just Like Heaven" and then had an early dinner at Culvers.

Superfolks was ok. Just ok. Maybe it would be funnier if I was a big comics fan or if I was reading it in 1975 rather than 2005. I'm giving it away without a second thought, knowing that I'll never want to read it again.

"Just Like Heaven" was kind of the same, I'm glad I saw it. It was cute and got a couple chuckles out of me in spots but.....I know I don't need to see it again. Mark Ruffalo was completely adorable and Reese Witherspoon and her character were very appealing but something about the story left me a little cold. Also, no good previews.

Nothing too exciting, just a generic busy-ish weekend.
