Written Christmas Day...
Ludicrous, farcical, absurd, preposterous, silly, nonsensical, laughable, fatuous, inane, asinine, foolish, cockamamie, senseless, puerile, comical, irrational

Those are all perfectly good synonyms for my usual interjection when I find something to be unusually stupid. I've (unfortunately) gotten into the habit of saying "That's retarded!" which is neither polite, considerate or particularly descriptive. So I'm going to try and use one of the above words instead, whichever seems to fit best. That's the plan. What I'll actually wind up doing is using the few that I like best, probably absurd, senseless (it's easier to say than nonsensical) and ludicrous.

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate it and have a nice Bank Holiday to those that don't.

I've already talked to my family (mom, brother, sister-in-law and nieces) today and made tenative plans to join them weekend after next for my birthday. I don't want to celebrate this particular birthday in town, I'd like to wake up somewhere else on my birthday and none of my friends will go to Vegas with me (too soon after New Year's, I know) so I'm going to spend a long weekend with my brother and his family, help my niece celebrate her 12th birthday. It should be nice.

Written this morning...
Playing with the new camera, it's pretty cool so far but I left the manual in the car and don't want to clutter my hard drive with the CD-ROM version which also contains Olympus' proprietary software, which I don't want either. I like arcsoft's Photoimpression just fine.
Went to see "Pan's Labrynth" with c0defiant, and pyropyga last night. It was ok but I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Afterwards we wound up eating at a Moroccan restaurant that was ok. Something different. On the way back we passed three (or four?) firetrucks in the street outside an apartment building on Clark. Smelled something funny but the firefighters weren't running around and we didn't see any smoke. One of the trucks was a ladder truck though that had it's stabilizers deployed as though they were going to raise the ladder.
